Broadway To Get New Satire Big breaking news from the Independent . Broadway is about to get a Satire of the first order as Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park fame join with Robert Lopez from Avenue Q to create a musical about the Mormons or Church of Latter Day Saints

Impressionism To Open At Schoenfeld Tony Award winners Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons will return to Broadway to star together in the world premiere of Impressionism, a new American play by Michael Jacobs opening at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Thursday, March 12, 2009. The production, which will be directed by Tony Award-winner Jack O’Brien will begin preview performances on February 28. This means that there will be no extension on Broadway for Katie Holmes and the hit revival of All My Sons currently playing at the Schoenfeld

To Be or Not to Be has closed on Broadway. As of November 16th, the play about an acting troupe in Poland at the beginning of the Second World War has been closed on Broadway. It’s not that it was selling particularly poorly, but its reviews were somewhat less than stellar and didn’t impress people the way it was expected to

New Sequel Needs New Edna In Hairspray the movie version, John Travolta won back hearts and audiences playing Edna Turnblad. Once was enough apparently for John Travolta. While he had fun and success in the role, a recent report suggests that he won’t be back for the highly anticipated sequel.

Musical Star and Starr Still On Top The brother and sister pair of Nick and Starr Spangler are still in the running on the CBS hit show The Amazing Race . As you may know, Nick Spangler is one of the stars in the classic musical The Fantasticks playing at the Snapple Theater Center (they taped the show [television] before he started his run in the show [musical]). New Tour Of Fats Waller Show To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the hit show Ain’t Misbehavin’ producers have brought in American Idol Ruben Studdard along with Frenchie Davis to star in the Fats Waller musical. Set in 1930’s Harlem, the show features some great songs, and will tour across the country. Right now Studdard’s American Idol rival Clay Aiken is starring on Broadway in Spamalot , until early January
